6 Seconds Before Now

By Chad Hollis

Everything is about me now

Mysterious forces break these facts;
The sky pours down in letter droves–
Gods yell and scream
Five unisonal days
. –About me

On the first day
Solo ‘faning
She fills the air with stark
Makes me forget those faces
Left hanging so long:
Playground years
. (6 seconds before now)

Two days, two screechings:
(They are) bi-polar people
Into one
“Change the way…”
. I live this God-damned life

[I am reassuring myself of nothing:
Only the wind outside
. Howling [through the trees]

Dark sides in the
Cool city streets
And the moon makes
Five immaculate adjustments
To draw her man-child near
She sings her lunar sea-songs
Until in the second year
. No one cares

A thousand somatic reactions
Fifteen starts ago
[And] Birds make feline whispers that sound like
Cricket kills at dawn
. Here, all wild-eyed and drawn

I’m gonna leave this place
(Crazy in its throes)
Kick out the suicide kings
and drama bitches
. Lie gnawing holes to holes

Hell lives in repentance hall
Where demons do their math;
And heaven sprouts
Bright Autumn lovers
In seasons of the world

. I’m gonna fuck in heaven

–With minds I never knew
Intercourse the celestial
With no guard from memory
Collective implications–
Feelings of the dead
And Oh! I’ll sex the universe in some
. Chain link fornication

I will touch Venus deeper
Where she is stronger than the flesh
Leave her gasping for reasons
Left for her to cry

I’ll reach the saints
With ectoplasmic hands
And jump off into the mantra
Soaring vaults and homes
And hearts

Leave me floating down the helix
In thoughts becoming one
We coalesce into
. Oh let this mis’ry die!

But really
Things are still about me here
. (Six seconds before now):
. I live this God-damned life
. Howling through the trees
. And no one cares about this man-child
. All wild-eyed and drawn

. I lie gnawing holes to holes
. In seasons of the world–
. I’m gonna fuck in Heaven
. Chain-link fornication
. Oh let this mis’ry die!
